THE GOODS
|
|
I found this one laying around and decided to add it to the Blog. Originally, I saw this on a long flight from Florida to California, as part of double feature (along with Michael Jackson's THIS IS IT).
THE GOODS—
To answer the question of whether this movie delivers what it promises in the title, we first must answer the question: What do we expect? If we are looking for great acting, great story, or even memorable storytelling then I must side with: The Goods does NOT deliver. If, on the other hand you view this movie (probably on a slow rental night) wanting no more that a silly diversion, then you will be rewarded for your innocence. Shakespeare this ain’t. This is the completely contrived story of a guy who wants nothing more than to be the greatest used car salesman of all time. He aspires to go down in history (from the age of five) as the best salesman who ever lived and now is called in (as a specialist) with his A-team of hucksters, to save a failing dealership. This great car salesman (Jeremy Piven) must prove that he has, “The Goods.” Silly, but what did you expect?
Binoculars? One and a monocle.
