9 Months to Austin
|
|
Dear IPers, Sorry for the long silence. The last four months saw four dear family/friend's souls go to heaven. Between the sad moments though, I have been writing.
The Christmas present, of Blake Snyder's Save the Cat books, has blossomed into a rewrite bout of everthing. But, the scripts are much better for it. One has been finished using that formula and has been with a producer for 8 weeks now. The last time we communicated, he needed more time. Today it is time for the second follow up. Do I call? His last e-mail gave me his cell and home number. I think that means I should call. Gosh I don't want to mess this one up. He saw a different project of mine and asked if I had anything else so I offered him the present "Blakitized" script. I don't have a PASS yet. Always good news. And this without representation.
The current rewrite effort is on the script for the Austin competition. I only have 4 more weeks to bang this one out. Beat sheet is done. Rewrite has started. Today I took a vacation day from the day job to try to get two more mini-movies done (Thanks to the Chris Soth 8 mini-movie writing method.)
Between WBC (Writer's Boot Camp), Blake Snyder and Chris Soth, I feel confident now that I am producing the goods. But I signed up for another class about rewriting strateggies and Character juicing. I am always trying to learn more.
And, thanks to Chris Soth, I chimed in to Co-Produce and Co-write his latest film adventure, a thriller titled 13 Knots. The filming starts end of May. Oh I so want to fly out there and see some of that effort. But bills will swallow the airfare I am sure.
Next rewrite will be New Shoes for Elizabeth. I paid for coverage before I had the Blake books and it was ripped apart. A lot to fix on that one.
And on Inktip I have started to place beat sheets onto the Treatment area of the website in hopes that someone wants to see these things. Really a superb tool.
God bless, InkTip, VPF, WBC, Chris Soth, BOSI. You guys are all SUPER!!
Well, That's all for now, Keep writing. Jenny (The Crazy Red Head)
