Mike Wichman and I began writing Screenplays together about eight years ago. Our topics and/or subject matter varies, but we have worked on Sci-Fi thriller type stories for the most part.
Our first work together was written about our mutual interest in Nano Technology. A subject we've learned is not very familiar to many Hollywood Producers. Interest in our project has grown over the years and currently an entity is giving script serious consideration.
In the past several production companies have looked at our story with no takers to date. However, in recent weeks and months we've received encouragement that an offer may be forth coming in the near future.
Mike and I became friends when were neighbors on the West side while he was attending UCLA Film School. We would often of politics, the economy and other social topics. Mike offered to share his some of his earliest screenplays with after I showed interest in learning to screenplays myself.
During one of our discussions Mike talked about his long held desire to write a story about Nano Technology. What? That was my first reaction. The next day I went on line and found there is a mountain range of information on Nano Technology. I discovered a number Medical Research web sites and thousands of articles on the subject.
I was blown away by all the information available on the topic. After reading and reading tons of information about Nano Technology, I went to Mike with a story idea I felt was the right one. "The Enemy Within" was born.
Our story involves a Scientist who works for an entity (Nova Dimensions) working on new medical applications for Nano Tech to fight Cancer and how the technology could be manipulated and controlled remotely by medical doctors.
Our main character, Jack Hammonthal the brilliant scientist who makes the break through proving his theory of human cell replacement, which could make hundreds of millions for the company, learns that he won't benefit financially for his work. A contract he (Jack) agreed to when he was a College Professor guarantees him a good salary, but not the riches he believes he so rightfully desires.
Jack embarks on a terrorist campaign to prove to Nova Dimensions that they were wrong not to properly reward him for his brilliant work. Using the microscopic robots to attack innocent civilians causing widespread panic that threatens to spoil Nova Dimensions hopes of huge profits from the medical community. However, the greater threat would be the exposure of the potently military applications no one in the Government or Nova Dimensions wants known to the public.
Enter our hero, Gary Daniels, a former university student of Jack's and the Medical Researcher at Nova Dimensions who makes Jack's theories work in the real world. Targeting specific Cancer cells with single Nanobots that kill the Cancerous cells without damaging surrounding tissues. Now the higher ups want Gary to be the lead man of their search for Jack. Who must be stopped before he can bring the wrong kind of public attention to Nova Dimension and their secret project.
Jack must be hunted down and killed before he can expose Nova Dimensions true objective. To become the world leader in the manufacture of Nano Technology for the US Department of Defense.
The military applications of using Nano Technology to control the American population. As a weapon to target and kill perceived enemies of the State. Jack's big break through was proving in theory that Nanobots could be controlled by Microwaves as apposed to Ultra Sound. The implications are frightening, giving anyone who can control the silent unseen microscopic machines over great distances the power to kill anyone anywhere in the world.
At first Gary can not believe that his Mentor could do anything to harm innocent people. The head of Nova Dimensions, CEO Roger Petersen and a Government Representative Ward Konkle, convince Gary that Jack is a menace, a madman who must be stopped before he starts killing for him profit.
Gary starts his investigation reluctantly not completely convinced that Jack could be so villainous to kill for money. As the plot moves forward, Gary becomes involved with Jack's ex-wife, Victoria who like Gary refuses to believe that the Jack Hammonthal she knows, the father of her children is an evil madman.
In time Jack learns that Gary is after him and turns the tables to his favor by convincing Gary to join forces with him to bring Petersen and Nova Dimensions down. Together they wage a running street battle that takes them from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. Hotly pursued by Government Agents under Konkle's control, as well as members of the FBI's anti-terrorist division.
Gun battles, car chases and Nanobots used by Jack to defend himself and escape the clutches of his pursuers. Makes this story a fast paced exciting Sci-Fi thriller full of political intrigue and social commentary. A story that will help the general public garner a better understanding of Nano Technology and how this new technology in the hands of Medical Practitioners may to prove to be human kinds salvation.
