"Anything Short of Murder" by Tony Piazza

|
The serial has now become a published novel which can be purchased on Barnes and Noble and Amazon websites.
Tom Logan is a private detective in 1930’s Hollywood. A former L.A.P.D. officer “busted” from the force because his integrity wouldn’t allow him to take a bribe from an influential mobster. One day a blonde walks into his life seeking protection. She had received a threatening note at the studio where she worked suggesting that someone wanted her dead. Logan however suspected something else. The girl came from money, and to Logan that usually added up to blackmail!
The first day on the case, the woman is murdered before his eyes, or so he believes. In actuality it turns out to be another woman, one who looks very much like her; coincidence or part of a carefully laid plan?
The murder is only the beginning of the mystery which takes Logan on a trail which leads him through studio back-lots, soundstages, and colorful Hollywood locales, as his investigation of suspects introduces him to many interesting characters (some famous) along the way. Of course for Logan there was only one person he was really interested in …the murderer, who he suspected would kill again. And with Logan, his instincts were never wrong, as proven when he too eventually becomes the target!
”ANTHING SHORT OF MURDER” is the author’s first novel, a murder mystery written in the Hardboiled style of a 1940’s pulp thriller. It conjures up memories of the writings of Raymond Chandler, and Dashiell Hammett. It also takes a nostalgic look at the Hollywood of yesteryear, filled with bigger than life stars, bright lights, limousines, lush parties, and red carpeted premiers.
