New York's International Chashama Film Festival
|
|
good evening everyone, this is my first blog on "myproducer.tv" and i wanted to let everyone know about my great experience at a film festival recently. last week marked the festival premier of our first feature film "dirty step upstage" showing in new york at the chashama international film festival.
the first day of the fest started with a filmmakers cruise, a fantastic party and then a live performance by our movies main character "girl in the red dress". followed immediately by a standing room only premier of our film "dirty step upstage" to open the festival. all in all there were 78 films being screened over the 5 day festival.
i was lucky enough to be able to see about 3 days worth of films and unfortunately unable to catch some of the films i was looking forward to. some of the favorites i got to see was an amazing drama called "help" by director val lauren and a first time entry by young director tal shamir called "new york trilogy" showing off some fantastic camera talent. some of the films i missed and really wanted to see were "ein weites feld (expansive grounds) directed by gerburg rohde-dahl and "umbrella" directed by catherine tyc. see the links below to catch up on the other films.
it has been a long road, one that i walked on for about 1.5 years to be exact. i know, to many of you that doesn't seem like a long enough time to make a quality feature. however i was brought in on the second half to finish it. working with our director amber moelter to finish the filming, help with the story, the music, the editing, the travel, the general working environment and most of all enable an incredible artist to do her craft the best she can.
and the best she can got her one of the best gifts we could've hoped for. a victor award for...
wait for it...
best actress!!!
really, our director was also one of the stars in the film and the resulting champion of our documentary turned fame thriller. i know that thousands of fans already knew just how good an talented amber has become over the years but this just solidifies it even more. from her action roles in catwoman, to the funny cult horror flick trash house. amber has grown and to prove it, on my mantle sits a gleaming award for best actress 2009. i know it's indie, i know it's small but it does two amazing things. it solidifies her talent out of a few hundred other actresses in all types of films as being one of the best. (which she doesn't want everyone to know as now she wants to be more of a director and less of an actor) but also it gives our film something almost as good as her amazing talent. it gives us the ability from our very first festival to say
"we have an award winning film"!!!!!!!
coming to get you,
bill
